2008-09 Game 16: Denver Nuggets vs New Orleans Hornets Game Thread

New Orleans @ Denver

Happy Thanksgiving!  The Nuggets hope to keep us from having another serving of turkey as they face off with the New Orleans Hornets at the Pepsi Center tonight.

The real key to success tonight will be a return to the defensive mindset that they displayed for the first four weeks of the season.  New Orleans is one of the best offensive teams in the league.  They shoot a high percentage and have arguably the league’s best player in Chris Paul running the show.

There is good news for the Nuggets though as Chris Andersen is probable for tonight’s game against the New Orleans Hornets.  Add in the fact that J.R. Smith did not play last night and they have two fresh players available to play in the second game of a back to back.

In preparation for tonight’s game head on over to At the Hive and check out my portion of the Q & A we did.

Hornets fan here.

It would be good to see Birdman again. Always bummed we let him go. Has he done much this year? I’m half way afraid Karl benched J.R. last night to piss him off so he could unleash that rage on the Hornets. Man, I hope not.

I'm really frustrated by this loss.

We had the game and lost it due to poor decision making and wretched defense.

Honestly, if I ever see another wide open three pointer in my life it will be too soon. Could they really not figure that out? Shot selection was disgraceful and we lost because of it.

We did not play an intelligent 4th quarter and that comes down to coaching.

GO BRONCOS!!!

I agree, terrible loss

Although it was good to see JR come out of his offensive slump.

I was going to credit the Nuggets

with pretty good half court defense. They played the pick and roll pretty well and did okay on rotations. Up until half way through the fourth quarter.

What was consistently bad, though, was the abomination that was their transition defense.
